The End of The Iger Era

Bob Iger is stepping down from his duties as CEO of The Walt Disney Company. The Walt Disney Company veteran Bob Chapek – Chairman of Disney parks, experiences, and products will be assuming the role of CEO effective immediately. Iger will continue with the company through December, 31 2021 as Executive Chairman.

With Iger at the helm, The Walt Disney Company successfully deployed their own streaming platform, Disney+. Additionally, under Iger’s leadership, the studio completed multiple acquisitions including: Pixar, LucasFilm, Marvel Entertainment, and 21st Century Fox – all totaling nearly $87 billion.

The 27 year veteran of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek will be focused on global business operations while Iger will be squarely focused on the company’s creative efforts. The combination of Bob Chapek’s strategic vision and Iger’s creative acumen cements The Walt Disney Company as a top competitor in the streaming wars and at the box office.
